NDW's Efforts on Data Quality

NDW works on improving the quality of data streams. Within the NDW organization, data quality is a dedicated team. Below is an overview of the monitoring developed and implemented, how NDW utilizes it, and the benefits for NDW partners.

Validation Checks: NDW performs daily validation checks on multiple data streams to detect technical deviations:

  • Issues are reported to the supplier for resolution.
  • Technical deviations ("incorrect data") in real-time traffic data (AVG) are excluded from data retrieval.
  • Active reports with suppliers can be viewed in the Incident Dashboard.

Contract Requirement Checks: NDW verifies whether a supplier delivers according to agreements:

  • This is discussed with the supplier on a monthly basis.
  • Results are available via the Data Quality Dashboard in Dexter (for AVG).
  • Results can also be exported from Dexter for internal use (for AVG).

Reference Measurements: NDW occasionally conducts reference measurements:

  • These provide insights and lead to improvement actions for suppliers, partners, and NDW.

Other Quality Aspects: NDW also monitors other quality aspects such as location references, dataset usage, and service desk performance:

  • Issues with location references are raised with the supplier.
  • Quality aspects are reported to partners.

Quality Reports: NDW produces semi-annual quality reports on the topics above:

  • These reports are discussed in the Partner Meeting.
