Real-time Traffic Data

What is Real-time Traffic Data (AVG)?
Real-time traffic data is a collective term for intensity, speed, and travel time data. It provides an overview of traffic at a fixed location on the road. NDW supplies data every minute from thousands of measuring locations across the Netherlands. The key data points are:

  • Traffic intensity: The number of vehicles passing a measuring point.
  • Speed: The average speed of vehicles passing a measuring point.
  • Realized or estimated travel time.

This data is largely categorized by vehicle length and, where possible, is available at the lane level. More information can be found on Traffic Data Products.

What are the quality requirements for the data?
NDW conducts multiple quality checks and verifies whether suppliers meet the agreed quality standards. For more information, click here.
